New YouTube Science Channel Feedback!

mardi 1 avril 2014

Hi everyone, when I was in high school on my old account, I used this site frequently and got great advice regarding the direction I should take in college and lots of other help.

Because of that I am looking for some advice and feedback on a new project of mine. I recently started an Educational YouTube channel: http://ift.tt/1pJt3lx

My name is Justin and I cover the latest in science news, so the channel is "Just-IN Science"

GET IT??? :)

It covers science news on a weekly basis from a huge variety of sources (always linked to the original article in the video's description). There are not advertisements on it (I make absolutely no money from this, it is just fun) so this is not a ploy to start ringing in the $100 bills.

I do all the recording, lighting, editing, special effects, hosting, and script writing by myself. Any work that is not mine is cited on the graphics themselves.

I would love if my fellow science enthusiasts would take a look at it. I started recording two weeks ago so I only have 2 episodes uploaded with a 3rd on the way, and each week I try to improve upon things such as lighting, animations, more content and etc.

I know there is a lot more I can do, but this is only a side project outside of being a full time student and two other jobs. As a result, please keep your suggestions in the realm of possible for me. If you have ideas on more engaging ways to deliver the content or simple animations to spruce up the background, etc. etc. I would love to hear it. Currently I use After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop to do the videos in a decent recording studio at my university.

My reason for doing this is because of RSS Feeds I can get about 2,000 articles to my phone in every area of science each week. I scan through them and read my favorites because it is just awesome to see what scientists all over the world are working on next. When I go on YouTube, I do not see the exponential increases in technology + science being covered. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places, but it is normally very watered down science news or science mysteries like, "Why you cry." These are certainly not dumb channels but I felt there was room for something more. Let me know what you think. Each episode will have more content as I iron out technical behind the scenes work.

Thank you so much for reading this, and I look forward to hearing your feedback
