Force, Horsepower and Acceleration logic?

hi guys,

Im not a science student but wanted help in understanding a few fundamentals.

Here is where i have learnt till please correct me if i am wrong.

is it correct if i state, "If you can lift 74.6kgs off the ground to a height of 1m in 1sec you have power = 1hp?"

i say that cause i read...

How can I replicate conditions on pin on disc test

Hello,

I need to replicate the conditions of a clutch on a pin on disc tribometer to measure the coefficient of friction. However the tribometer I have access to can't spin faster than 1000 RPM. The clutch will reach speeds from 3000 RPM to 9000 RPM. I calculated the normal force required on...

Why does speed of DC motor increase when flux is reduced?

I understand that from KVL

e = v -IaRa

e=k(flux)speed

speed=(constant)*(V-IaRa)/flux

But physically what causes the speed to increase?

What force causes the rotor to accelerate?

In fact physically, the rotor is moving because of field flux interacting with armature current's flux.

So...

how to calculate equivalent inertia of an engine?

Hello, is there a formula or technique to calculate the equivalent inertia of an engine?

I think I will have to add up all the inertias of everything else rotating inside it but it has so many components like cams, followers, pulleys, water pump, crank, flywheel etc. What sort of effect will...

.3333.... equals to

I just show how .999.... = 1

Let x = .999....

10x = 9.999...

10x - x = 9.999... - .999...

9x = 9

x=1

So according to the above .3333.... shows as 3.

Let x = .3333...

10x = 3.333...

10x - x = 3.333... - .333...

9x = 3

x=3

But according to me, .333.... should equal to .4 , isn't it?

I must be...

Double Valve Spring

In some motorbike engines, I notice there are two springs (inner and outer) for a valve. Why do they have to make it two ?

Thanks

Complex Analysis: Theorem Name

Hi,

In my textbook the following theorem is designated "Proposition 3.4.2 part (vi)". There are 6 parts total in the overall theorem. I'll just type the part I'm interested in below. My question is, is there a more standard name for this theorem? I would like to find an additional...

Referential Integrity Details.

Hi a probably dumb question on Referential Integrity:

I think I understand the basic idea/motivation for it, but one thing I am confused about is this: just when/how

do we declare a column in a given table T' to be a foreign key related to the primary key for table T? Is it when we...

Stress in a squeeze ball

Hi,

I have two squeeze balls with pressure sensors inside them. One squeeze ball(Ball A) has a sensor placed at the center while the other one(Ball B) has two sensors, placed very close to the two opposite surfaces. These squeeze balls act as an input to a game developed. Depending upon the...
