Seemingly easy physics question

samedi 31 mai 2014

1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data

A .5kg apple is dropped off the top of a 15m tall building. Assuming there is no air resistance, what will the apple's speed immediately before it strikes ground be?

2. Relevant equations

U=m g h

3. The attempt at a solution

(.5kg)(9.8m/s^2)(15m) = 73.5 m/s?

Just doesn't seem that simple, though.
